A tour of sacred and special places in the West of Ireland and introduction to Celtic Shamanism

Counties: Limerick, Clare, Galway, Mayo

Steeped in myth and history, the West of Ireland holds a special kind of magic for the spiritual traveller. From the mountains and lakes of Connemara to the barren limestone rock of the Burren, the backdrop for this tour is a landscape that is as wild and free as it gets - the perfect place to escape from the world and inspire and nurture your soul. Whatever your own spiritual beliefs or background, this tour is a veritable celebration of nature and Mother Earth.

Shamanism is a practice that was used by the Celts - as well as other indigenous cultures all over the world - since the beginning of time, but which died out, in the western world with the rise of religion and modern civilisation.

Simply described, it is a celebration and awareness of the interconnection of everything around us and within us, and in particular connects us to nature and the natural energies and cycles of the earth. It is a very fluid way of perceiving the world and empowers the individual to develop his own way of doing things, rather than providing a rigid set of rules. Indeed, it sits alongside many religions around the world from Buddhism to Catholicism and is still the basis on which life is led within some cultures today eg. in South America. Celtic shamanism draws on the practices of the ancients - the druids and the bards and also draws on the threads of Irish culture which still remain today, for example, the importance of music and song.

Today, shamanic practices are being revived around the world in the search for answers to the questions that life poses. Some say Ireland and the Irish - and particularly the West of Ireland - never really lost the natural magic, one reason why so many are magnetically drawn to this special place to learn about shamanism and rediscover a more natural way of life. We invite you to discover this magic too, and with it, the magic within yourself.

The Celtic Spirit tour is a collection of special days in special places with talks on different aspects of Celtic shamanism and Celtic spirituality. We visit a number of sacred sites and take walks in magical areas, interspersed with guided meditations, shamanic journeys, rituals, music, song and dance.
