Daily Itinerary:Day 1Arrive in Leenane (we can help arranging transfers). You will be given your route pack and general information. If time, we will allocate bikes and equipment. Day 2 You will be dropped to the starting point of the Famine Track. Walk along the shore of Killary Harbour, Ireland's only fjord, to Leenane (2.5- 4hours). The track bears the name the "Famine Track", because it was built after the Great Famine, as relief scheme for the surviving population. Return to Leenane, choose your own dinner tonight. Day 3 Depart after breakfast with your bicycle via Aasleagh Waterfalls to Wesport (45km - with longer options). You are passing through a valley between the Sheefry and Partry Mountains. Lunch and dinners at participants choice (not included), stay the night in B&B/guesthouse. Day 4 Transfer to Murrisk, from where the ascension of Croagh Patrick takes place (climb 750m to the top, allow 5-6 hours). This is still the site of an annual pilgrimage, and whilst you are climbing the often steep and stony track, remember that some pilgrims do it with their bare feet. Return to your B&B, dinner at your own choice (not included). Day 5 Depart after breakfast via Aghagower, Toormakeady, Lough Mask, Finny and Clonbur to Cong (33 miles = 50kms). A good long cycle through a variety of scenery. You will stop et a pub along tthe way to buy your own lunch. Stay the night in B&B, dinner not included. Day 6 A day to meander around historical Cong, see the ruin of Cong Abbey, walk in the magnificent gardens of Ashford castle on the shores of Lough Corrib, watch out for the Giant's Grave (a burial chamber made of heavy stone slabs). Day 7 Depart after breakfast to cycle to Leenane, passing through the Maam Valley (27 miles, 40 km). You cycle through Joyces Country. A fairly straight road although the longer option on this day will be taking you over a variety of passes through the Mountains. Again lunch and dinner at your own choice. Day 8 Breakfast and depart.
