Guided Tours in Ireland

West of Ireland Cycling Tour | West of Ireland Walking Trail | Clare & Galway horseback riding trail
*
Enjoy guided cycling, walking, and horseback-riding tours in the West of Ireland. All of these specialty fully guided holidays offer a very high standard of accomodation, food and service. These guided tours are based at guesthouses, country hotels, and in the case of the cycling tour even manor house hotels. They include most dinners and every transfer from the time you touch down in the airport until you leave us after having spent an eventful week together with your group and guides.

What can you expect on a guided tour?

A small personable group: We limit group size to 12 cyclists or walkers on all our tours. This affords you greater freedom and personalised attention, and allows you to gain a truer sense of Ireland, since you will meet the locals.

Expert guidance: Our tour guides live here! They have done miles of bicycling and walking in the West of Ireland and they share their expertise, enthusiasm, and humour with with you. Our common desire is to see that you have the best experience possible and that’s why you are offered a genuine active guided experience on our tours, which includes lots of care and interpretation of the sights along the way. Rather than just handing you a map, briefing you on points of interest and sending you off, there are planned stops where history will be brought alive for you. Encouragement to ride or walk with others and make new friends, even a little coaching if you like. Of course you also have the flexibility to go on your own with the maps and details. But it is the camaraderie, fun, laughter and learning too that makes for outstanding vacations.

A home away from home: We select the accommodations used for their quality, comfort, small size and character. Depending on the tour they range from family run guesthouses to country house hotels, even castle hotels. They all excel in the wonderful personal attention you’ll receive the instant you arrive. The warm hospitality of your Irish hosts is legendary, and we prefer a 12 roomed guesthouse to an impersonal 50-room hotel.

Wonderful food: You start your day with a hearty Irish breakfast, lunches are generally left at your own choosing in coffee shops, and pubs along the way. Delicious evening meals are taken in an ecclectix mix of restaurants, some of them well-known gourmet places others offering only the freshest home-cooked local cuisine.

Cycling and walking routes: All our routes are selected to be off-the-beaten-paths offering outstanding scenic attractions away from the maddening crowds. Cycling days average 40 - 60km with most days offering a choice of longer options. The walking routes average 10 - 16km over a mix of backroads, hiking trails, and over open ground. The pace is relaxed, the atmosphere is one of fun and exploration, routes are designed to offer a vacation not a race (except for of course our race type styled challenging coast to coast trips).

Complete support: We work hard to insure that our tours exceed your expectations. At the time of booking you will receive comprehensive pre-trip materials. Once the adventure holiday starts, you receive detailed information about the days ahead, information about the sights along the way as well as the historical background. Plus, every tour includes our ever-attentive van support, there to supply you with snacks, repairs, encouragement or a lift if you need it.

Value for money: Again being a local and small tour operator works in your favour because we can offer our adventure tours at very good rates. Being located in Connemara on the west coast of Ireland means we have direct communication & payment channels to our providers. Apart from the internet we don't spend a huge amount on marketing either, and whilst making money is a necessary goal, it is not the primary motivation. Our motivation stems from the enjoyment we get from offering unique adventure vacations and to empower you to have the experience of a lifetime.
