Killary Tours was established 23 years ago in Connemara. Mary and Jamie Young,
outdoor adventureres, and owners of Killary Adventure Co. were convinced that more and more
travellers yearned for an active participation during their vacation in Ireland, rather than seeing the countryside fly by from the window of a coach. The idea of organising
a weeklong cycling tour combined with a multi-adventure week at the Adventure Centre was born
and an instant success.

Since the initial cycling tour, our adventure holiday programme has rapidly expanded. Today,
it includes guided and self-guided cycling tours, guided and self-guided (walking) hiking tours and
other specialty tours (horse-riding tours, yacht charter, adventure race type styled tours as well as
family tours). Mary and Jamie, and their young family settled in Connemara directly on the West coast of Ireland, recognising its unique natural beauty, the friendly people and the possibility of an outdoor based life style. Today the Killary group comprises of Killary Tours, K2 - the Killary Centre, Killary Adventure Company, Killary Corporate, as well as irishstagsandhens.com. Although Jamie is still the driving force behind Killary Tours, there was the need to expand the service offered for the tours, and the administration team now consists of Ciaran O' Callarain as Tours Manager and Linda O'Malley our Tours Co-ordinator, not to mention the many tour guides. We take pride in selecting the best accommodation, providing quality equipment (even Cannondale lightweight hybrid bicycles), knowledgable, charming tour guides, detailed pre-departure tour information and maps, and full back-up support whilst you are on tour. Above all, we are a small team, we know every detail about our tours, and we will give you, as our guest, more than you expect, and we will do it cheerfully. | |
