K2 - The Killary Centre

sees the latest chapter in the Killary story. Little Killary Adventure Centre opened its doors in 1981 as one of the first private adventure centres in Ireland. Started by Mary and Jamie Young, both keen outdoor enthusiasts and well travelled sailors, the business has grown over the years to encompass:

Killary Tours an individual tour company offering guided and self-guided active vacations

Killary Corporate experiential training programmes and more

Killary Adventure Company providing up to 20 water and land based activities

K2 was built so we could offer top quality accommodation at excellent prices.

Located at the foot of the Maam Turks and overlooking Killary Harbour out to Inishturk the setting is unique and unrivalled. Built from environmentally sustainable materials, the low profile construction nestles unobtrusively into its stunning surroundings. A wind generator will eventually be used to harness wind energy providing a substantial proportion of electricity to the building.
Up to 80 guests can be accommodated in double, twin and four-bedded en-suite rooms all facing the harbour. The upstairs lounge, dining area and wine bar provide an astonishing 360 degree panoramic view including the Twelve Bens, Bundorragha and of course Mweelrea. Mona Purcell

K2 is managed by Mona Purcell, herself a keen outdoor enthusiast. She has worked, amongst other places, as manager in Delphi Adventure and the Jurys/Doyle Hotel group.
